TaZeR27's: A Day In The Life Of A Decker

It was a bright morning as TaZeR27 set out from his house, a large mansion in the depths of a sprawling base of factories and workshops. He like to think of it as his empire, his own country that he could control. He was the owner of this base, and any activities within the perimeter fences were reported directly to him, and no-one else. TaZeR was a decker, the term used to describe a Droid fighter. He was one of the best in the land, ranked in the top 40 overall! "This is the way I like it" he thought, as he made his way to the Droid Base, the central hub of all operations that went on in the base, so that he could get the report of what had went on during the night.

"Nothing much new Sir, a couple of spies were detected from a rival base, but our highly trained security guards managed to prevent them form getting any further then the perimeter," reported the Head Of Security.

"Last night one of our young scientists developed the latest technology, Anti-gravity structures, late last night. We could put this to great use for construction, expanding your great empire even more, Sir. We have great hopes for this scientist, he has another project underway already!"

Pleased with the report, TaZeR27 set off to the local town to see what had went on in DroidArena over the night. Nothing much had changed, a change in rankings here and there, but nothing serious. He then headed off in the direction of the corporation headquarters, to be briefed on what the plans were for the day. On the way, he headed into the bookkeepers, to see how his bets from the day before had gone. Not very well, it would seem, but this failed to spoil TaZeR’s good mood. The season was going well, and it would take a lot more than a few lost Credits to dampen his spirits.

Upon reaching the headquarters of the corporation he was a member of, UD Warriors, TaZeR spotted a few friends of his from a past corporation, Final Supremacy. Among them were Dorjan, Wiplash, and Deth. They exchanged greetings, and then went about their business.

Being one of the top corporations in DroidArena, their headquarters were modern office blocks, with a large reception area to welcome possible new recruits. TaZeR headed upstairs to his office, and logged in to his computer, checking up on the message board, and taking notes of what had changed. Torq and Peder had been working together well overnight, winning arenas even with the odds stacked highly against them. The other members had also been working well, with SparHawk, Ehlana, and AySz88 forming a good trio, using tactics and teamwork to achieve some vital victories.

While reading through a particularly boring message about resources, the phone rang. TaZeR answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hey there TaZeR, good to have you up bright and early. Myself and Seraph were going to join the 3/corp arena, care to join us?" said Sontos|Aweh’s voice down the phone.
"Yeah sure mate, just got to go and check up on my bot from the last arena, it took quite a beating," TaZeR replied.
"Ok mate, talk to you when you get back," said Sontos, who hung up.

TaZeR logged off, got his coat, and headed off to the local droid repair workshop, to see how his droid had stood up in the last arena.
"Hi there TaZeR, got it all fixed up for you in time for this mornings arenas," said the mechanic, grease on his face and a spanner in his hands.
"Not much serious damage, a couple of guns needed fixed up, but the rest was mainly cosmetic. That will be 24000 Credits and 6000 Construction points please."
"Thanks a lot mate, here you go," replied TaZeR, handing over the payment.

TaZeR then headed off in the direction of the arena terminals, his gigantic droid pounding along behind him, ready for what stood ahead.

Looking through the list of arenas, TaZeR found the 3/corp that Sontos had talked about, with him and Seraph ready and waiting. TaZeR’s droid made it’s way into the teleporter, and TaZeR pushed the join button next to the arena. After a two second pause, there was a zap sound, and the droid disappeared.

TaZeR then headed off to the post office, collecting his mail from his pigeon hole. There was already a message from Seraph, containing the script settings for the arena, which TaZeR placed in his pocket, flicked through the rest of his mail, all bills, and then moved off towards the library, from where he could give his droid the instructions for the upcoming arena.

After walking into the library and heading to the scripts section, TaZeR spotted Xtreme Armageddon, a fellow decker with whom he shared a friendly rivalry, and they often joked about who had the better droid, even though they hardly ever fought.
"I’ll see you in that 3/corp TaZeR," said Xtreme Armageddon.
"No you won’t mate, you will be dead before you see me. Haha, I can’t wait to see when my droid kills yours," taunted TaZeR.
"Well, see you later mate, I’ve got to head to the bookies and make my bets."
With that, Xtreme Armageddon walked out of the library, leaving TaZeR to change the settings of his script in peace.

Settings successful changed, and script uploaded, TaZeR headed back to the corporation headquarters, where he spent most of his time. There was still not much activity, the majority of the members had stayed up late the night before to try and enter as many arenas as possible, and had gone home, exhausted from the days work. TaZeR sat at his desk, started up a game on his computer, and played it for the next hour and a half. At that point, the phone rang. It was Seraph, informing TaZeR that the arena results were about to arrive, and that him and Sontos were down at the Results Centre, waiting. They invited TaZeR to join them, and then head off to the pub afterwards for a celebratory drink. TaZeR thought this was a slightly premature arrangement, seeing as the results had not yet come in, but agreed anyway.

He arrived at the results centre to find Sontos and Seraph, with glum looks on their faces.
"Err, we didn’t do too well then I take it?" enquired TaZeR.
"Take a look for yourself… could have been better…" replied Sontos.
TaZeR walked up to the console embedded in the wall, inserted his arena card, and entered his PIN number on the keypad. He chose the Arena Results option, and selected the most recent arena. After a few seconds of delay, the results popped up on the screen. There was Seraph, top of the results, closely followed by Sontos, and then himself. Sontos had managed to get the doll, and hid while TaZeR and Seraph distracted the other droids away from his hiding position. They had all done well, getting three kills each, and to make TaZeR’s day, one of them was Xtreme Armageddon.

TaZeR walked back up to Seraph and Sontos, who now had huge grins spread across their faces.
"Haha, got you mate, didn’t expect that, did you?" laughing Sontos.
"No, not with the way you and Seraph were acting when I walked over. You are getting the first rounds for that, guys."

They headed off towards the pub, laughing and joking amongst each other. It had been a good start to the day for the three deckers, and they all hoped it would continue. This was what TaZeR loved about being a decker, the comradeship, community, and pure suspense of waiting for arena results. Things were looking good for the rest of the season, and he was sure there would be many more great moments before it all came to an end.
